About This GameWelcome to Fade Out, our first classical escape room experience, developed for virtual reality devices. In this game, there are no zombies or monsters, just different puzzles of variable complexity. Our goal with Fade Out is to experiment with this gaming genre and to bring an escape room to the player's living room. One riddle follows another, as one room keeps mutating in other forms - small steps on your road to the main question. Do you think it is possible to escape? Fade Out is a single player virtual reality game, available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. If your actual room is small, or if you prefer playing the game sitting on the sofa, you can use the built-in teleport system. The game is violence-free and although it is based in unsetting environments, it can be played by gamers of any age. Fade Out is created by a very small and multicultural team from different countries (5 countries for 10 people). SEVEN GOOD REASONS TO PLAY FADE OUT

I found that to not be the case, unfortunately. I disliked the overall gameplay; if you're hoping for a traditional escape room, this isn't it. After you find one clue, the next area of the room to explore is revealed. I prefer the room to be complete from the beginning. I can appreciate trying something different, but they should have made it more clear in the description and not call it a classical escape room experience. I haven't completed the game, but so far the rooms have all been very short and uninteresting. The background sounds are creepy, as promised, but don't seem to vary much. Some of the controls aren't very intuitive, such as the room in which you have to punch in numbers on a phone (it was pretty frustrating). The description of the game said you can touch everything and explore every detail. I kept expecting the drawers and cabinets to open, however, very few of them actually did. Even if they contain no pertinent pieces of information, I still want to be able to actually look through everything. I think the way I would describe this experience is more of a guided escape room. You'll find one clue, only for something behind you to fall, and wouldn't you know it, there's a clue behind that! It just really took away from the self-exploring and problem solving that makes escape rooms so fun. And you don't actually even seem to escape any rooms. Once you finish all of the puzzles in a given room, a door may open but you don't move through it; instead, it takes you to a loading screen before you enter the next room.
